What’s New in Wichita IT Support

After over ten years, we’ve decided to update the IT support site with a new look and a new address. We’re not web developers, nor do we want to spend a fortune, so we’re doing it ourselves. If you’re looking for web design, drop us a line and we’ll recommend some of our local Wichita favorites!

Wichita IT Support

That’s what you’ll see in the address bar. It’s our history and our mission rolled up into one. We want to be your go-to IT service provider, whether you need daily support or just a one-time nudge in the right direction. Our staff of certified tech professionals can pull from knowledge going back thirty years, so don’t think that your technology is too outdated; we can help you bring your business back into the modern era.

Managed Services vs. Non-Contract IT Support

You’ll hear a lot of local providers tout ‘MSP’ services. What does that mean? In a nutshell, that business is referring to themselves as a Managed Service Provider. For one flat, monthly fee, all of your base IT support needs are covered, from general maintenance and monitoring to troubleshooting; onsite, via remote control, or over the phone.

Yes, we do that, but we’ll also be up front with you.

A managed services contract with us or other firms will generally get you:

  • General PC maintenance like Windows Updates
  • Antivirus Protection
  • Troubleshooting of standard issues and software

A managed services contract with us or other firms will generally NOT get you:

  • Development – Contracts cover maintenance and not development. What does that mean? If your existing server has an issue it will be fixed. If you need a new server, the hardware cost and labor to configure are billed at an hourly rate
  • Support for Non-Standard Software – Generally, MSP contracts cover standard software like Microsoft Office, the Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Reader. The support will also generally only cover installation and maintenance. What does that mean? If you’re trying to format a document and get an error message, IT support will help. If you don’t know how to format a document, that falls under training
  • Training – As discussed in the bullet above, training is generally NOT covered. An MSP contract will make sure that your application will work, but it won’t make sure that your users know how to use it.

Everything not included will incur an hourly fee.

Pros and Cons of Managed Services

Pro – Your monthly bill will be much more predictable.

Pro – Your network will have less downtime thanks to proactive monitoring and maintenance

Pro – Additional IT support services such as training and new installations are billed at a lower rate than non-contract IT

Con – Contract-based. You’ll need to commit to a monthly contract for 2-3 years to get the best pricing.

Pros and Cons of Non-Contract IT Support

Pro – You pay for support on an as-needed basis

Pro – No monthly contracts or obligations

Con – Higher hourly rates

Con – Less predictable monthly expenditures
